Parkinson's disease management combines medication optimization, therapy, and ongoing neurological care to control motor and non-motor symptoms and maintain quality of life. For patients whose symptoms are not well controlled with medication, evaluation for advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation may also be considered.
Ongoing management is recommended from the time of diagnosis and throughout the course of the disease, with treatment adjustments as symptoms evolve. Evaluation for advanced therapies is considered when medication alone no longer adequately controls symptoms.
