Allogeneic bone marrow transplant replaces a patient's diseased or damaged bone marrow with healthy stem cells from a matched donor, often a sibling or unrelated matched donor. This approach is used to treat leukemia, certain lymphomas, and other blood disorders, offering the added benefit of donor immune cells that can help fight residual disease.
Allogeneic transplant is recommended for patients with leukemia, certain lymphomas, aplastic anemia, or inherited blood disorders where a matched donor is available and the patient's own marrow is diseased or has been depleted by treatment.
